THE COLONIAL BANK. To the Editor of the Benalla Ensign. [Newspaper Article] — The Benalla Ensign and Farmer's and Squatter's Journal — 8 October 1869

TiE COLONIAL BANK. To the Editor of the Benalla Enao'n. Sir,-In consequenceo of rumours projudicial to my interests, I am constrained to give the lie to any state ment advanced wherein I am charged with circulating reports calculated to injure the business of the Coloniol Bank in this township. Had the manager treated the rumour with the contempt it merited, instead of try. ing with the asistance of an attorney to collect evidence with the intention of taking to a court of justice an innocent party, he would have saved the credit of the bank. Yours obediently, GEORGE BUGBIRD. Benalla, October 7th, 1860.

MANSFIELD. [Newspaper Article] — The Benalla Ensign and Farmer's and Squatter's Journal — 8 October 1869

MANSFIELD.   From " THE INDEPENDENT." We observe, in looking over last week's Gazette, that a mining registrar has been ap pointed here to fill an office which has been vacant some months, and that Mr. I. H. Kelson is the new officer. Being without a mining registrar for so long a time was a source of considerable inconvenience to our mining population, the wants of a class which we hope will receive a proper amount of at tention at the hands of the next gentleman who may have charge of the Mining depart ment. Mr. Kelson will conduct the business of registrar at his office, adjoining the Royal Hotel, High-street, which is a very suitable place. He will also arrive at certain arrange ments by which registrations may be taken in any part of' the district .   Satisfactory progress is being made in the establishment of a cricket club here, and not too early in the season either, as other clubs are up and doing. The committee of our local club held a meeting on ...
