LATEST FROM ENGLAND. [Newspaper Article] — South Australian Register — 28 September 1839

LATEST FROM ENGLAND. At a late hour last evening we were favored with Liverpool papers to the 12th June, brought by the Lady Lilford, which vessel has made a pleasant passage of 102 days. There seems to be little news of importance further than what we have given elsewhere, and, therefore, we reserve extracts till next week.

PROGRESS OF DISCOVERY. [Newspaper Article] — South Australian Register — 28 September 1839

PROGRESS OF DISCOVERY. THE brig Rapid, Captain Hart, returned a   few days ago from an exploratory trip along the coast to the western limits of the Province. The expedition was undertaken, we believe, on account of an Association, prepared to take several Special Surveys, should convenient har- bours connected with rivers or fertile land be discovered, but the report of the trip has not yet been published by Mr. Samuel Stephens and Mr. Hill, who undertook that duty. It is probable, however, that we shall yet be fa- voured by these gentlemen with a full account of their interesting voyage, which we shall not fail to lay before the public. In the meantime the only information on the subject we have been able to collect, is that several safe har- bours exist on the coast ; but that there is not a sufficiency of fertile land in their immediate vicinity. At one spot — in Streaky Bay we believe — where the party landed and proceeded about twenty miles inland, the soil was no...
