FOOTBAILL. A movement is afoot in Heidelborg to initiate a district junior football compe. tition for the coming season.under simi lar conditions to the Senior Association, and it is proposed that all players should be under 20 years of age. Next Wed nosday ovening a meeting will be held in the Rechabite Hall, Heidelberg, to form a local junior club, when considera tion is to be given to the proposal, and stops will most probably then he taken to convene a meeting of delegates from other clubs to discuss the idea.-It is rumored that the Greensboroiigh foot ballors favor joining the Morang compe tition this season, in consequence of the Heidelberg District Association's adverse decision last year against the Jlub in the Booth protest case.

IVANHOE FLOW1ER SHOW, At the monthly mccting of the Ivan. hoc Horticultural Society on Monday evening last, the schcdule as submitted by the committee was adopted for the annual autuimn show, which is to be held on Saturday evening, 18th April, in the Ivanhoo Hall. Drastic additions have been made to the prize list for the forthcoming exhibition, the number of sections being increased from 58 to 74. Quite a number of attractive extra classes are included, and the catalogue is undoubtedly the widest ranged and most substantial yet framed by the so. clety, which should easily account for a record entry, especially considering that there has been such rapid development in botanic culture around Ivanhoe and districit of late.

HARVEST FESTIVAL. The annual harvest thanksgiving ser vices in connection with St. *John's Church of England, Heidclberg, were celebrated on Sunday last. The interior of .the edifice was very nicely decorated by the members of the church with a profusion of all fruits in season and greenery, the whole making a striking display. There were large congregations on both occasions, especially in the even ing. Appropriate discourses were de livered by the vicar, rev D. W. Weir, in the morning, and11 Rev 1. FAIRFIELD SWIMMING CLUB. ANNUAL OPEN AQUATIC CARNIVAL. A RECORD SUCCESS. After endeavoring for several seasons past to obtain the full support of the local public at their various carnivals the above club has at last attained that ideal. Last Saturday's gathering was an exemplification of what can be ac comiplished in that direction, and to say that the club deserved the recogni tion that was extended to it on that occasion is beyond contradiction. It has always attempted to frame a high class programme, but in this year's an- nual open carnival, it undoubtedly ec lipsed all previous efforts. Specta tors were attracted from all parts of the surrounding district, whilst each train from citywards brought a large quota of visitors to the rendezvous, it being estimated that fully 3000 people were present during the afternoon, in cluding a large sprinkling of the fair sex.
