FIRE PROTECTION FOR CAMBERWELL. Mr. Mauger and Cr. Kellett, memn bers of the Fire Brigades Board, ac companied by Chief Officer Lee, at tended Camberwell Council on Tues day to explain the intentions of the board with regard to improved provi sion for the fire service of the city. It is proposed to abolislh the presenlt Canterbury station, corisisting of a man and a reel, and to put on three permanent men and a motor at the Camberwell station in Riversdale-road, and also at the Surrey Hills station. Also an increase in the number of alarm points throughout tlh' city. Mr. Lee pointed out that these motor sta tions would be supported by the sta tions at Box Hill, Hawthorn, and Kew. The new arrangement will come into force within the next six months.
