Reported find of Opal     near Mildura.   For some years rumours have gone about that finds of opal had been made in the country adjacent to Mildura, but no one was successful in discovering how they arose, and   the interest excited usuallv died down in a few days. Last week a man named Tom O' Sriea brought in a piece of stone about three inches square and made enquiries from many persons whom he met as to what the specimen was. Amongst those to whom it was shown was Mr Frank Migga, who is a practical opal " gouger," and was for some years at White Cliff, N,S.W., digging and buying opal. Mr Migga recognised the specimep as true opal. and O'Brien told a circumstantial story of having notictd the stone glittering in the bed of the Murray River, about three or four miles down stream. His curiosity was aroused and he broke off a specimen and brought it in to town. That the specimen is genuine opal there is no doubt, Sbut the question ...
