CAMBEWARRA [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News, Nowra — 20 October 1937

CAMBEWARRA (From Our Own Correspondent). A storm passed over this district on Sunday morning. The rain was very heavy at times, and it was accom- panied by hail. The country after the rain looked like a snowfield, and some of the hail was still to be noticed at evening in sheltered places. This downpour, together with some showers during the week, should do a lot of good for the farmers. The rain must have been heavy on the moun- tain, for the creeks and gullies were a wonderful sight with the water flowing over the side of the mountain. * * * * The Cambewarra cricketers tried hard for an outright win at Meroo on Saturday. Joe Pestell perhaps has been doing some coaching; and if he has, it has been sound advice, for the Meroo boys kept their end up in the second innings, although their first innings was not very wonderful. HUSKiSSON (From Our Own Correspondent). On Friday night last, in Holy Trinity. Huskisson, the Rev. G. J. S. King. Th.L., was inducted as curate in charge of the provisional district of Huskisson. The church was comfort ably filled, and the service was con ducted bv the Venerable Archdeacon Charlton. It was a very solemn and beautiful service, and in his address the Archdeacon, as a veteran in the ministry of the Gospel, gave some very worth-while advice and exhor tation to both pastor and people. He preached from the text 'Ambassadors for Christ' (2 Cor. 5:20). He spoke of the ambassador's calling, his cre dentials, his commission, and under the last heading enlarged on the call to a social ministry, a sympathetic ministry, and a spiritual ministry. 'I cannot promise you wealth,' he said, turning to Mr. King, 'but what I can promise you is a life of Joyful service under the best of Masters, with a crown of righteousness at its close.' While to the congregation he said: 'Attempt grea...
