I MONDAY MORNING, AUG. IS, 1S56. Tae True Character of the Indiana Journal. Ever since the Journal hoisted the black ihgof Abolition in 1854, it has espoused the full faith of that pa.ty. It has indorsed and defended the most extreme measures of its party, regardless of every other consideration than the success of Abolitionism. It has encouraged resistance to the execution of the fugitive slave law. It has advised, counselled armed intervention in Kansas, and has aided in organzing armed parties to go into that Territory for the avowed purpose of opposing the laws of the Government. It conimends and sustain mob law in the de- Mrton' Chivalry. After all the parade and bracing of Muttton, J. IX 1kkrees, and the Journal, as to Morton's willingness to meet Willard before the people, it will be seeu that Morton positively i declined and refused to let Willard speak at the nppointtneut at Corydon, in Harrison county. Morton knows which side of his bread is buttered, better than to let Wi...

In the New York Herald of Wednesday, the 20111, of August, inst., we find one of the moat astonishing political articles which we have read relative to the Presidential e'ection. The reason whv it is astonishing is, that the Abolition party in the West, and particularly in Indian, have been most industriously and falsely laboring to fasten the charge of slavery extension upon tho Democratic party. , No Democrat in Indiana has ever advocated the tension of slavery, and the Black Kepubli- well know the fact, but they nevcrtha- continue to chamo the falsehood upon the Democracy. We have repeatedly denied that wo wished to extend slavery oue inch, and have asserted that thera knot a Democrat within tba State of Indiana, in our knowledge, that would vote to make Kansas a slave State. But what do we see...

The attack of the Journal, of WeJnesJav, upon Mr. Bcchaxax, for tho scntimenN expressed in what 'a known as the "Oiteud ' Manifesto," exhibits a lameness anl ica potency which the editor of that paper would ha?a Jono well to have kept out of the "arena" of public exhibition. Sentinel SATURDAY EVENING, SEPT. 6. 1S56. The Journal and J. D. Bright. The Journal has been misrepresenting every Democrat who spoke at the Palmer iouse on Tuesday evening last. There seems to hard been a studied purpose to do so, oa the part of that paper, which every individual who is connected with the press, and who has a due regard for it character and reputation, must most sincerely regret. Among those whose remarks were thus falsified, was Hon. J. D. Briqut, of our own ' Suto. 11 State iranel. FRIDAY EVENING. SEPT. 5, 165G. Correction. An error occurred in our notice of the speakers ho addressed the people from the Balcony of the Palmer House, on Tuesday evening, which requires correction. It was Major C. J. This correction U due to both of those gentlemen, more particularly the former, who would not wish to be placed in a position to girt) any one reason to suspect that he wa3 willingly appropriating to himself the pres ii'e of Gov.
