THE DEMOCRAT. T. Mcdonald,.. PLYMOUTH, IND. Thursday Morning. June Ulli, 1S57. Hank Question. Tho legality of tho Bank of the S'aie of Indiana" is being pretty generally discussed throughout the State. Somo are willing to give it a fair trial, others advocate its unconditional repeal. It is well known that the Democratic party, as a party, is opposed to "Banks," and has so expressed itself, timo and again, yet this by no means prove that the Demoeiais are a unit on thU subject. His Excellency Joseph A. Wright, has espoused the cause of the poople, and aeems determined that the rottaacess of the Bank shall be probed to tho bottom. It has been our opinion that Trhon the Ex-Governor vetoed tho Bank bill, end sent his objections to the House, that ha had done all that a confiding people requited of him as Governor, on thai aubject. Wo judged that ho felt a little nettled at tho Lerialaturo when it passed the bill over his veto. Several of our exchanges aro keeping up a continual war on ...

1 ' 1 1 V) C 3?0Ci n. iUcK)OAltsl, Editor. We have been requested to announce that thero will be a meeting of the mechanics and laboring men generally, at the Court House, next Saturday evening for the purpose of re-organizing the "McClure Library Association." Owing to the rascality of one of the old officers, and some other hinderances which will not now impede its progress, the society failed to raise the requisite number of volumes to entitle it to the donation. The Agent, Mr. Canfield, now proposes to establish the society cm more libera! terms, by donating a seal and thirty -one volumes. Inis is a liberal offer, and we trust that these interested in the matter will attend the meeting next Saturday evening, as they will never have a better opportunity to secure a library forthemselves and posterity. Let every man consider himself a committee of one to circulate this notice, and thus secure a permanent library. 1 1 i Z-Tho St Joseph Valley Register, of the 4ih inst., in quoting ...

THE DEMOCRAT. T. McDCrALD Editor. PLYMOUTH, IND. Thursday Morning Jnlv 9th, 1857. Extra Session. Wo have noticed in seYeral Republican papers '.hat Governor Willard would probably call an extra session of tbe Legislature gome tirns in August next. If tho Governor has become satisfied that tho same disgraceful scenes would not be re-enacted that were last winter, he would no doubt convene the Legislature at an early day; but unless he has some intimations from those who prevented the general approprition, temperance, and revenue bills from passing, that they will, if called together, at once proceed to pass those laws, he will not call an extra esswa this year. Tt is well known by all who are conversant with the doings of the Senate, the last week of the session, that the Republicans utterly refused to let those bills pass, although repeatedly urged by the Democrats to do so; but their motto was to "rule or ruin." They, no doubt, were of tho opinion that tho Governor would call them ...
