HOTS FOR THE HOUSEHOLD. Avple Custard Pie. 1 pint of sweet milk and 3 grated sweet apples, 2 well beaten eggs, little salt, sugar, and nut meg to taste. Have only an undercrust. Crab-apple Jelly. Cut in harles and boil in water till soft; 2 ouaits water to i peck apples; strain and add 1 pound of sugar to 1 pint juice; boil 25 minutes. Canned Crab-apples. To 5 pounds apples take 3 pounds sugar; make a sirup, and when boiling put in apples and boil until soft; seal immediately in heated cans; no paring. Elderberry Butter. Take 1 gallon of elderberries, 2 quarts of sugar, and 1 pint of vinegar; boil for 5 hours, stir ring often ; for pies, take 4 tablespoon fuls for each pie of the butter, and re duce. Suet Pudding. 2 cupfuls flour, 1 teaspoonful salt, 1 cup suet chopped fine, 2 eggs, scant pint milk, J teaspoon ful soda, 1 cup apples chopped fine, 1 cup raisins, 1 teaspoonful each of cloves and cinnamon, 3 teaspoonfuls molasses ; steam 13 hours. 1 French Cream Cake.
