To Tax Bachelor Recently various plans for thf taxing of incorrigible bachelor 11111 h rn suggested but the inHhd rtrfind rn a bill before the Connecticut legisla ture is unique Instead of an annual tax upon the single man the bill pro vides that bachelors may be allowed to enjoy life free from taxation so long as they like but that if they seek to marry after living single forty years they must pay a fine of 3100 to the State Just what object the legisla tors propose to serve by allowing the men of Connecticut to roam about in hardened bachelorhood untaxed and yet threatening to fine them if they marry after forty is not apparent If a man is bent on getting married 8100 is hardly a restraining influence while a man not disposed > marry atull will pay nothing whatever for his lifelong freedom If taxation is to have any effect on bachelorhood apparently it would be wiser to impose the tax be tween the susceptible years of 21 and 40 removing it thereafter on the ground that the tax...
