i T 1 11 I r r Mip k r w r t 4 1 In the Mullet Belt Down on the easygoing gulf coast where everybody loafs and is happy there are one or two awful thoughts which occasionally shudder through the pleasant dseams of the inhabi tants The most dreadful of these is the horrific suggestion of a possible failure of the mullet crop The mullet crop is locally known as Biloxi bacon because down there it is as absolutely a necessity of life as pork is elsewhere in the South The visitor to all the gulf resorts is more addicted to mullet than he realizes It sometimes parades on the bill as trout or something else which gives variety to the menu Be not deceived While the coast can furnish a good mullet no other lish need apply the names are chan ged to satisfy the uneducated nortn erner but the fish remains the same Just what a hold the mullet diet has on tha natives is clear from a story they tell about Biloxi A good many years ago there was a mullet famine along the coast The people had to fall...
