THE RANDALL COUNTY NEWS. MARCH 19. 10O9. News reporter and questioned about the matter, just broke out in a smile and said: "Yes sir, business is certainly Rood." Mr. Thompson has been a resident of Western Texas for the part six teen or seventeen years and has seen the country develop from almost its infancy in commercial matters. He is naturally opti mistic about business conditions and the future of Randall county and stated that his firm had an ticipated an unusual business and had tried to bo in a position to meet every demand that the trade might make upon them and thus far had been able to do so. That the business had been fully up to their expectations and in fact had been better. He stated that their business had been almost double that for the cor responding season of year there by showing the increase in agri cultural interests. His firm has found an unusual demand for builders' hardware on account of the large number of new houses and barns being built all over! the coun...

THE RANDALL COUNTY NEWS, MARCH 19. 1009. The Problem Solved Durability Simplicity Two-Fold in its mission MOUSE. ILL. I INSURES UNIFORM STAND Light Draft Operator in Plain View of the Feed The success of every farmer is dependent upon his being able to do his work with the least expense possible and at the same time be enabled to get his grain in the ground while the season is right. With this thought in mind we present you herewith a COMBINATION JOHN DEERE RIDING LISTER AND PLANTER as represented by the above cut. Our close study and observation in the past have proven to our entire satisfaction that there is no implement on the market today that will meet the requirements of every UP-TO-DATE, WIDE AWAKE farmer as will the JOHN DEERE Combination Riding Lister and Planter. Convincing Points. Its neatness of design and symmetry of construction and perfect action renders the John Deere Lister and Planter unapproached in implements of its class. Simple in its construction makes it poss...

THE RANDALL OOUNTY NEWS, MARCH t9. 1009 A SERMON IN POLITICS. Kantai C'rty Paper Drawi a Lwson From Changs in Presidential Office. A Great Republic. Last week witnessed tho most inspiring and instructive specta cle which a republic affords. It was the culminating triumph of lopular government. One man, called by the voice of 80,000,000 people to the seat of supreme authority, took a simple oath to observe the fundamental laws of the land and to bend all his en orgies toward the advancement of the highest interest of the people. One day a private citi zen, the next he was the official head of the greatest nation of the earth not by reason of birth or conquests or wealth or anything but the freely expressed prefer ence of the people whose mate rial destinies were committed to his official keeping. Another man, who had been called to the same exalted office four years before and who had lx-en originally called to this office through a great national tragedy, laid down the reins of powe...

RANDALL COUNTY NEW y Vol. XII. Canyon, Randall County, Texas, Friday, March 2G, 1909. No. 52 Well Pleased With Randall. Among tho visitors to Handall county on the last excursion was M. Uoosier, a farmer of Osceola, Iowa, and John W. Newell, pres ident of a bank at Weldon, in the same state. They called at the News office together and as usual the News man tried to ascertain their thoughts relative to the county and its prospects. They were both very outspoken in their praise of Randall county and its farming lands and ex pressed the opinion that it would be but a very short time until it would equal the best farming countries of the north. They thought the soil was fine and that the lay of the country was the prettiest that they had ever seen while the reports of the crops grown showed that it would com pare very favorably with any farming country. They claim that all that Randall county needs is more farmers on each section of land. These are coming rapidly. It is reported that Mr...

THE RANDALL COUNTY NEWS. MARCH 26. 1909. y t Now After tha Chickens. A citizen of this city has this week handed us the following lucstions: "Should owners of chickens be required to confine them from trespassing upon the plants, shrubbery and gardens of those who cultivate such? What say the Civic Improvement Club and the City Council? Speak up." Now, there are several preach ers and at least one editor in this town, and the editor, speaking for himself, believes he voices the sentiment of the preachers at least, when he says that those yellow legged creatures called chickens, when properly fixed up and fried, comes as near being good to eat as anything that can be found. Could not those who raise the gardens and tender schrubs take some means of protecting them and leave the editor and preach ers alone in their glory of fried chicken? City Election Notice.
