Calderwood have completed the work of that office for the current year and the books the total valuation of all property assessed in Valley County to be $3,718,986.oo. Last year the total assessed valuation was $3, 144,909, making an increase this year of $574,770oo without taking into consideration the assessment of the railroad company, which is fixed by the state board of equaliza tion, and last year amounted to $3.576,339.oo, or more than half the total valuation. While getting the above figures from the records it was interesting to note the assessment of iS96,just thirteen years ago, the statement of which happened to be laying on the table, and showed that the total assessed valuation that year was $739,476.oo.
