NEWS JjV JililEF. THE EAST. A PASKESOEB train on. Uie rittuburgh anil Eri railroad ran off the' track iiear'Morfcvia, Pa., the other day, and was precipitated down an embankment thirty feet high. Two of the coaches were burned, but, all the passenger succeeded in getting out alive. Twonty of them were injured, but none seriously. The trial of Stokes for the murder of James Fisk, Jr., was brought to a close in New York on the 4tk inst., and resulted in a verdict of guilty of murder in the first degree. On re tiring, the Jury (stood ten for murder and two for manslaughter. They were absent three hours.- On the announcement of the verdict the prisoner was visibly affected. The United States Senatorial Com mittee to investigate the charge against Senator Caldwell, of Kansas, made a report on Monday recommend ing hii expulsion.
