Orders were then given to cot her adrift from the wharf. In a few minutes she was ', comnletely enveloped in flames, and drifted to the eastward of the wharf, 'where she burnt to the waters edge.' Curious Developments. A page of the New York fs devoted to a correspondence be tween several members of a commit-, tee appointed at the National Loeo foco Convention of 184$, and sun dry prominent members of the "Lo-eofoco-F r e e s oil-ProsIavery-Demo-craticFederal-anli-Whig party," in all parts of the United States. - We thought there must be some hoax in this correspondence When we first saw it; but as Medary of the Ohio Statesman charges Bennett of the Herald with purloining it, there need be no further doubt of its genuine ness. The letters are all from the most prominent men, such as Do naldson of Texas, Clark of VuCom mander of S. C, Martin Van Buren, AS. A , w vinv iAuuiiiull VI Texas, Levi Woodbury of N. H., Giddiugs of Ohio, and many others in different States. . It is not possible to give a full and fair understanding of this correspon dence, but it is in relation to the rtominatiou of a candidate for the Presidency. Giddings of Ohio says to Donaldson of Texas, that. Meda...

For the Gallipolis Journal. For the Gallipolis Journal. Bank at Gallipolis.
