THE DAILY DISPATCH. roisosuus Coxfits.—Prof. James Mapks, hat Communicated to the New York press a statement that he haa made sundry experiments upon various kinds of confectionary recently introduced to the public, such as Banana, Jar. £• itle Pear, and other drops. He states his decided conviction ihat they are injurious to health—anj adds : Many, if not all of these drops, nre flavored with the hydraled oxide of Arnyle, known in our Pharmocopceitisas futrloil, combined with nitric, acetic or citric acid. The poison is produced in the distillation of whiskey from corn, and probably the manuXactureis of the confectionary in which it is used, as well as the consumers, are not aware of its poisonous properties. I have just made some experiments with myself in the use of this poison, and find that in the state probably used by the confectioners, the mere odor is sufficient to cause headache, coughing. See. Believing it a duty to make these facts public, I leave it to your discretion t...
