M Extension Club Meets Mrs. Gus Whitlow was hostess at her home in Holland for the monthly meeting of the Holland Extension Home Economics Club when they met May 18th. Mrs. Marian Williams presided at the meeting. Mrs. Whitlow reported on the Rally Day meeting and read the history of the onion. Mrs. Bicls presented some saving tips on energy stating that window shades may reduce home cooling costs 21 percent. Mrs. Felix Blels received the door prize. Bartlett Softball News Garcla's Team Wins Two From Warriors Mnnuel Garcla's team downed the Bartlett Warriors 4 to 3 in the first game Thursday night. The second game was all Gar- cla's team as they won 25-15. The winning pitcher for both games was Duanc Mummy. Losing pitcher was Placido Rodriguez. Leading Garcla's team at bat were Ricky Parks and Manuel Garcia. The Warriors were lead by Mingo Fucntez. Salt Lake wins 14-12 Thursday night after the Garcia-Warrior games Salt Lake and the Strangers played with Salt Lake ending on top 14-12. M Page 10 Tribune-Progress Thursday May 31 1979 Obituaries Mrs. Wiederspahn Funeral services for Mrs Joe Wiederspahn 71 of Bartlctt were conducted at 4 p.m. Friday In Goodnight Chapel In Dartlett with Rev. Tony Hargrove officiating. Burial was in the Bartlctt City Cemetery. Mrs. Wiederspahn died of an apparent heart attack Thursday morning In her home. Mrs. Wiederspahn was born in Bartlctt and attended Bartlett High School. She later moved to Austin and was the food director at the Drlskill Hotel for many years until her retirement. She and her husband returned to Bartlett in 197G. Mrs. Wiederspahn was a member and past president of the Cornelia Wilson Garden Club of Bartlett. She was a Methodist. Survivors include her husband Joe Wiederspahn of Bartlctt; two daughters Mrs. Pat Crawford of Bar- tlett and Mrs. Sandra Jen- nings of San Antonio; two brothers A. L. The article described Persky's narrow row system of planting both cotton and sorghum. A picture of Persky was included in the article. The Farmer-Stockman is one of the largest regional farm magazines in the U. S. It has more than 299000 subscribers in Texas Oklahoma Kansas and New Mexico. Persky is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Persky of the Bnrtlctt-Holland area. Students Get Scholarships Susan Slndccck and Kenny Pajestka were recipients of $500 scholarships from the Texas Council of The Knights of Columbus.
