THE KALGOORLIE MINER PUBLISHED DAILY. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1895. FEDERATION. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 1 October 1895

THE KALGOORLIE MINER PUBLISHED DAILY. . TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1895. FEDERATION. The Premier of New South Wales, Mr G. H. Reid, has at last .announced his intention of bringing the Federal Enabling Bill before Parliament. The various Colonial Governments have been anxiously awaiting . this step for some time and supporters of the Federal movement are everywhere on a nervous tension, expecting the sound of the first gun to announce that the battle has begun. The provisions of the Bill, which was the production of the Confeience of Premiers held at Hubart some months ago, are merely provisory and little objection can be raised against them. In reality it is to provide for a practical test of the feeling of the various colonies upon this all-important question, which has occupied the attention of politicians at various periods ever since the es tablishment of .tb-c . Federal Council, without, however, the accomplishment of any tangible result. The public feeling, nevertheless, has never y...

'The Romance of The Earth's Crust.' On Monday evening the Rev G.. Johnston lectured in McDonald's hall, : Kalgoorlie, on the above subject to a fair attendance, over which Mr Thom son presided. The lecturer explained the process by which the solar system was evolved, and with diagrams illus trated the . nebular theory of the formation of the earth. He enumerated the vari ous, strata which composed the earth's crust, explained the agency by which they were formed, and discour sed- on- 'the origin of gold and the manner in which it became deposited as it is now found.
