ELECTORS' RIGHTS. [Newspaper Article] — The Wyalong Star and Temora and Barmedman Advertiser — 8 June 1894

ELECTORS' RIGHTS. As a result of t.lie action taken by Mil. J. J. Williams, Chairman of tin; Progress Committee, in wiring to tlie Chief Electoral Commissioner, and pointing out tlie absurdity of asking people to go to Burmeduian for their electors' rights, Mr. Copkland, the Distiict Registrar for Barmedmtin, was sent to Wyalong on Wednesday. The letter from Mil. Copki.and, con veying the information that he was coming out, and a telegram from the Chief Commissioner, reached their destination, as far as -we can learn, about the same time, tbat is, on the morning of tlie day that Mb. Cope land was in attendance at Mii. Spring's hotel, in the savveyed town. By that time most of the miners had trone to work, aud, therefore, did not hear the bellman announcing that electors' rights might be obtained during the day by calling upon Mr. Copeland. As many of those most interested live on claims outside the immediate neighborhood of the towns they will not know till they read this, that an o...

FEEDING BARLEY STRAW. [Newspaper Article] — The Wyalong Star and Temora and Barmedman Advertiser — 8 June 1894

FEEDING BARLEY -STRAW. - . Barley straw, when the crop is secured in good condition, should pome from the thresher, bnght colored -and -well broken up by the action of the threshing, cylinder, and if the beards are wholly or. partly 'removed, no danger, need be apprehended in feeding to' any stock. This removal is easily done at threshing time by allowing the chaff from we sieves to fall to tne ground, or by leav ing a one-and-ahalf-inch space at the joint in the straw carrier through which tbe beards and chaff fall to the ground. In either case only the straw passes to the stock. The beaxds and chaff are readily eaten by stock, and if run through the cutting box, dampened and sprinkled with a pint of meal to a bushel ,,f chaff a very palatable feed is obtained. Sheep relit-h the bright barley straw, but it should be fed from a rack with closed sides witli ah opebiiig only at the bottom, other wise the beai'ds beoome thoroughly imbedded in -the wool 'about the hcadand neck.
