RYE. [Newspaper Article] — Mornington and Dromana Standard — 22 August 1908

RYE The committee of the foreshore are making good progress with the recrea tion ground, and when finished it will certainly add much beauty to the town ship. Jarrah wood seats will be.placed under suitable trees for accommodation of visitors and residents, and other im provements are contemplated by the energetic committee. The weather lately has been truly wintry-rain, with cold winds pre vailing, retarding out-of-door work, and consequently a diminution of earn ings by the industrious class. The contractors for the erection of a second wire on the telegraph line are expected soon, and there is no doubt it will be of great convenience to the people of the Quarantine, Portsea, and Sorrento when it is completed.

MOOROODUC. [Newspaper Article] — Mornington and Dromana Standard — 22 August 1908

MOUROOUUU. iTh the early part of the'week we.ex- c periei?ed warm, sunny .weather, mak ing, all outside work very enjoyable. The stock also appreciate this pleasant i change, the grass making a good 1 growth after the winter spell; but it is not pleasing to report that with the clno of the week we are having bad weather, commencing with heavy hail storms .and showers of rain, accom panied with very cold S.. W. winds. We feel these blasts now-a-days owing to the land having been cleared of its natural protection in the form of tim ber, and in this not many appreciate the value of the native trees until they have been cleared away. The roads improved in condition with the fine weather, and a fine new. culvert has been erected on one thoroughfare, replacing one of our old identities. It has been built on the same style as the decayed one-of logs and slabs, and, I think,.with all the improvements that have been discover ed within the; last thirty years, a more up-to-date method of build...

Football. THE WATSON COMPETITION. HASTINGS v. SOMERVILLE. SOMERVILLE VICTORIOUS. These teams met in the Frankston Park on Saturday, to decide which should have the right to compete in the match with Frankston to day. A fortnight previous, the same Clubs met at Frankston in the semi final match, butirowing to several dis putes arising, it was decided .by the delegates that the game should be played over again. There was a large assemblage of onlookers present to witness the match, and at intervals the Frankston Brass Band enlivened proceedings by well-played selections. The day was an ideal one for out-door, sport of any kind, especially for foot ball, the atmospheric conditions being very calm. The teams, as arranged, were the same as met in the previous contest, with the exception that M'Lellan was played in the Somerville team in the place of Horsfall, who was suffering from a sprained ankle. -Wil= son had charge of the first and third' quarters of the game, and Brown the second a...

Bilious Attacks. THERE IS NO MORE EFFECTIVE REMEDY THAN DR. MORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILES. [Newspaper Article] — Mornington and Dromana Standard — 29 August 1908

'.Bilious. Attacks., THERE IS NO MORE EFFECTIVE REMEDY.THAN DR. MORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILES. " I have been from time to time," writes Mrs M. Steele, 81 Barry Street, Carlton, "troubled with headaches, Indigestion, and Biliousness, and have taken many different medicines but have found no remedy to equal Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills. I find their action is mild, and a dose or two always put me right. I am pleased to be able to give you these few lines for I think Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills are invaluable as a household remedy." Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills re lieve this trouble speedily. They open the clogged-up system, purify the blood, and cleanse the stomach, causing the human mechanism to work smoothly and easily. On the appearance of bilious symptoms a dose from two or four of Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills should be taken, the larger dose for a more robust grown person. A little experience will guide the patient in the use of the Pills so as to produce the best results. Peopl...
