Law relating1 to News papers. (1.) Subscribers who do not give ex press notice to the contrary are con sidered as -wishing to continue their subscriptions. (2.) If subscribers order the discontinu ance of their periodicals, the publisher may continue sending them till arrears are paid. (3.) If subscribers neglect to continue to take their periodicals from the office to which they are directed they are heU re sponsible until they have 'settled their bills, and ordered them to be discon tinued. (4.' If subscribers move to other places, without informing the publishers, and the papers are sent to their former direc tion, they are resoonsible. (§.) DISTRICT NEWS. (Bv Our Ow-- Corrkspoxdexts.) WOOMBYE. Mrs. J. Francis met with a nasty accident on the 8th instant As she was carrying a bucket of milk she tripped and fell, causing a fracture of the left forearm. Her friends will be pleased to hear that she is doing well. Very large -areas of pineapples are being planted this season. Mr. Smith, of Zillraere, has just for warded 17,000 plants for his local plantation, this being the. second consignment this j'ear. Many other growers are increasing their areas, but plants are difficult to obtain. A local branch 61 the W.P.O. has been formed, and it is said that a large number have signed the mem bers' roll. It is intended to in stitute a series of socials with the object of increasing the funds. The number of points secured by Moreton at the Brisbane Exhibition this year was six less than last j-ear, notwithstanding that an additional five points was allowed for arrange ment.
