DISTRICT NEWS. NELSON'S PLAINS. [Newspaper Article] — Raymond Terrace Examiner and Lower Hunter and Port Stephens Advertiser — 9 August 1912

DISTRICT NEW 3. - ( From our OorrwpomletUn ) NELSON'S PLAINS. After the abnormal rainfall, of last month the land is so. saturated that it will require another fortnight of fine weather before farmers can commence ploughing, which will make the sowing of crops very .late, because even when the ploughing is done the land will re quire some time aud plenty of sunshine to sweeten it in order to ensure a crop. However, farmers may be thankful that matters are 110 worse, as we narrowly escaped a flood. The heavy rain has also done a great atnouut of damage to the roads, and it will require a very heavy outlay to put the roads of this shire in order again. While on the subject of roads I would respectfully poiut' out to the Raymond Terrace Municipal Council the need of some repairs to that portion of the road leading from the town to the Nelson's Plains ferry which is under their control. There are some nasty ruts in it, and 'a dray load of good metal would put it in fair order. . There i...
