GLEN INNES NEWS. Glen limes, Nov. 4th. [Newspaper Article] — The Voice of the North — 8 November 1918

Glen limes, JSiov. 4 Mi. Beneficial showers of rain fell during last , week, and while registering over an .inch aild a half in Glen In lies, and averagin'g about iin inch along the'Tablektml, will afford but 'little relief unless .backed up by further falls within the next few weeks. Unprecedented dry weather has 'prevailed in 'Central New England for some months past, with the result that pasture has withered off to an alarming extent. Stock gen erally are in poor condition, and crops are lan guishing for want of moisture. There, is, how ever, a sliglit shoot already noticeable in the grass in some .of the paddocks, which will afford temporarily some slight measure of relief. As usual, wlien dry weather occasions damage to the landholder, which in itself is bad fortune enough, some other pest comes along to make con ditions worse. Ju this instance it is the rabbit. "Bunny" has spread himself over the northern Tablelands this year to a far greater extent than ever before, and despi...

FROM OUR COUNTRY CORRESPONDENTS. GOLGONG GLEANINGS. Gulgong, Nov. 2nd. [Newspaper Article] — The Voice of the North — 8 November 1918

GOLGONG GLEANINGS. tiulgong, Nov. 2nil. An election was held during the early part of last month to fill the vacancy in the Muni cipal 'Council, caused by tlvc resignation of Aid. D. II. MUDGEE LETTER. Mudgee, Nov. 1st. [Newspaper Article] — The Voice of the North — 8 November 1918

Mudgce, Nov. 1st. Very dry weather has prevailed throughout the district during the past month, and it is dott certain that the majority of the crops will be rank failures. There has been a very promising break in the weather during the last couple of days, but unfortunately the rain arrived i\ little too late to save the majority of the crops. For tunately for the district there is a prospect of fair crops in some instances. The Mudgee Agricultural Society is favourably considering a proposal to hold a "Boost Week" during the next annual show, which is to be held early in 1919. A suggestion: has -been made that a big carnival be held at the conclusion of the show, when many novelties would be introduced to bring the town and district under the notice of the puiblic ami to advertise their great potentialities. Word was received in the early part of last month to the effect that Dr. Olive Single, of "Wandoona," Wollar, has been'promoted to the rank of 'Colonel. •Mr. F. Blackmore, C.P...

GROCERIES, Etc. November [Newspaper Article] — The Voice of the North — 8 November 1918

GROCERIES, Etc. November i During this month the very gratifying results achieved by the Allies on all fighting fronts has had a wonderful effect on general business, which is now very cramped, the desire exhibited in all quarters being to cease buying or to only pur chase in very small quantities, and to dispose of stocks on hand. With the end of the war in sight this policy is, of course, sensible, as most alterations from now on will be for lower values, and holders of heavy stocks are sure to incur losses. The following is a list cf the principal alterations during, the month:— Asparagus—l's 20/-, 2's 30/- doz. Carbonate Soda—28/- cwt. ' • , Sulphur—24/-. Soda Crystals—#0/-.
