GARDENERS CALENDAR FOIt SEPT Should tbe weather have been unfaforable during last month for the operations named, embrace early opportuni ty of completing them during September. It is well also to bow again of main crops, so that a season may not be lost in case oJ accident to the first sowing. Broad lieans are more productive if the head of the plants be taken off. Asparagus beds should be yielding constant cuttings for the table. The main crop of potatoes should be got in. Lettuce, and the seeds of the more useful herbs may be sown. A few seeds of melons, cucumbers and vegetable marrows may be dibbled in, nufler frame, and permanent beds pre pared for the reception of seeds or established plants nest months Look carefully to your annuals, whether in open bor der or growing in pots, for planting out. A little straw should be laid carefully on the beds of strawberries, after freeing from weeds by a good hoeing.

The Weather.—The heavy hoar frost of Friday morn ing was followed by a colJ Saturday, with a light shower in the evening. Sunday was dceldolly warm; the ranges presenting that hazy oppcarancc bo often Been on a hot Glimmer day; at sunset the clouds formed in strata, rising from the South-cast. Monday was a day of clouds, with an occasional slight drizzle, a sharp rain fall from the S. E. between 5 and 6 p.m., and lightning in the N. E. On Tuesday morning there were squalls from the S.E., and a cold westerly wind, during the afternoon and night. Wednesday, cool, wind W. & S> Thursday, a bright, clsar day, with a westerly breeze. District News. PANBULA. (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT. ) POLICE COURT.—MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11. (Before G. F. Keon, J. Manning, J. Lloyd, and J. Bennett, Esqrs., Js.P.) Queen v. Ellen Hart. This was a charge of perjury, brought against Ellen Hart, arising out of a former case, in which she was plaintiff; a great number of witnesses were examined, which occupied the time of the court up to a late hour, when the sitting was adjourned till Monday the 18th inst. The case standing adjourned we refrain from giving the particulars. One of the witnesses for the Crown, E. Hart, not mak- ing his appearance when called, the bench issued a warrant for his apprehension.
