Whilst no hesitation e\ er ap pears to be made about affording substantial assistance financially as well as otherwise to the metropolitan association, the treatment accorded to similar institutions in the country is the very reverse. Putting aside ihe -jue-- tion as to wisdom or otherwise of subsidising institutions of this nature, it must be quite evident that what is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander, and if the Govern ment in its 'wisdom deems it right to appro priate a portion of the public funds to the use of the metropolitan assoeiaticn, it is cer tainly entitled to do the same for country ones in just propoiiion to their importance as guaged by tlieir revenue.
