Incident or the Revolution. A surgeon in the American army relates thia story. A simple girl was instrumental in saving Washington's li-v. It was about the middle of June, 177C. and while the General was in Nw York, waiting the approach of the British troops, that the girl came to Francis, Lor present husband, whom she considered in the light of a loyalist, and informed l.im, as a secret she had oTerheared, that there was a plan in operation among tho government men to destroy the rebel leader as &he termed the commander-in-chief by poison, which was to be plentifully mingled with green peas, a favorite Tegftt table of hs, on tho lollowing day, at Richmond Hall, the headquarters, where l.o was to dir.e.
