AN ACT FURTHER TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THK CITY OF NKW YORK—PASSED APRIL 12 , 1853 . The people of the State of New York , represented in Senate and Assembly , do enact aa follows : } 1 . The Legislative Powers of the Corporation of the City of New York , shall be vested in a board of Aldermen and a board of Councilmen , who , together , shall form the Common Council ui the city .
