BLUE NOTES ( A Weekly Colyum by D . J . S . ) _Ye gods , but we are in a pickle ! We are about to go to press and cannot produce a _single blue note _, try as we may ! Where , oh where is our boasted cynicism?—that _cherished vein of ironic wit we so fondly believed inexhaustible ? —Gone!—Alas , we summon to us in vain the iconoclastic shades of Colyumists past and gone . Nothing doing ! Not one solitary cynical , ironic , _pessimistic , bombastic—in short _colyumlstic —spark of wit fires our mind today . Dottie had an awful dream Sunday night—something to do with a man hanging . Midge Littlefield says it s great to be in love , and guess her roommate agrees . How about it Ev ? By the way—Jane Woods likes caramel lollypops and Ev . Bozeman likes Rays ...
