CIMARRON NEWS AND THE CIMARRON CITIZEN ESTABLISHED 1872-NEW VOL. V! CIMARRON. COLFAX COUNTY. NEW MEXICO. THURSDAY, APRIL 16. 1914. NO. 15 CIMARRON HOLDS THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM OF COLFAX" Candidates Prohibitionists Hot On the Trail Of Legislative Candidates; Will Be Issue In Next Campaign. Political leaders in New Mexico are lying awake nights to devise means to keep down and out of the prohibition issue- during the legis lative campaign this tall. The lenders argue skillfully that it is not a political or a party ques tion, but those fighting for or against prohibition are not in a mood for academic discussion and insist that it is a live burning ques tion that must be settled and set tled right. At the present the pro hibitionists, and they include a number oi adroit politicians, are setting the stage for a campaign that they hope will swe...

War Just now every loyal citizen of the stars and stripes is stirred up and the blood is circulating a little faster ovi r the possibilities of war with the republic south of the Rio Grande. It is not the Mexican republic that is lieing brought to toe the mark in answer to the insult of the U. S. tlag, but the individual who is usurping the powers of the afflicted nation, under whose tyranny the Mexicans are suffering. It costs millions of dollars annually to keep a standing army and navy in readiness for war, if war must be; but it costs millions of dollars a day in time of war to keep the men of war on land and water. The insult to our flag by Huerta will cost this country millions not mentioning the killed and those crippled for life.
