(CONTTSOIU) FROM FIRST FADE.] t " ' ' A remeasurement was made at one time, upon my indication, and $-2,741 50 wag allowed me additional to urevious estimates, which, after deducting 10 per cent left $2,467. This was in June, 1879. The measurement »as made within the spice of two hours, and was too quickly done to be accurate or * satisfactory. II the whole amount that was due me on monthly estimates had been paid me as it became due, I would have hid sufficient funds to pay my men and gone on with my contract. < There was a determination on the part of Bennett, the architect, to drive me off the job, and they finally succeeded. The contract was made on the 25th of July, 1875, and I went to work within thirty days thereafter, and I think, in the fore part of August. The cg 1 i mate made in the middle of November of the first year was not because I asked it deferred from Oc tober, but ...

THE DAILY RECORD-UNION. NEW PUBLICATIONS. Tub Poet Scoirr. Being a selection of incidental and illustrative TOTSOS and sotipi by Captain Jack Crawford, belter known as "The Poet Scout of the Black UilU." .San Francisco : 11. Keller & Co. 1 vol., bui'j.
