tio. McE'rr3's Speech. On Saturday last our citizens had the pIleas;ure of listening to an able and ch ,ient t address of an hour and a half in ieongthI, from Gov. .14olN .McE:;Etv. It is nit astonil-hing that, he should have I,:a welcomed by the people of Rlichland, or that they should have crowded the house to har him, for he has always been an especial favorite in this vicinity. His d, dtescription of the conedition of our State, and l.er inlpending ruin, found an echo in the heart of every true man and woman who heard him. And when he pointed out the manner in which the white people were to. combine and gain victory over ignorance and corruption, the en thusiasm of his hearers knew no bounds. Never has an idea been greeted with warmer shouts of appro bation. A white man's government and a White Man's Party is what' has been uppermost in the minds of all honest mten in this State since the election of 1il72. The Governor was gratified at the reception given him by the peepie of...

THE RICHLAND BEACON i so - . iof WIIEY P. MAIGHA , E- ditor P.B. B.BAIRD, Asrociate Editor & Publisher th OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF RICHLAND, t, Rayville. La., July 11, 1874. ar, Corruption and Venality. a; For twelve long years the Republi- pa can Party has been in power; and do Carl Schurz, the Missouri Senator, th ,unce said of this party, that if it w should fail to come up to thedemands or of the times, it would be bound to go ce down. le further said that there ICI was great probability that a neI Party would soon arise to take it_ place, and carry out its promises, anj fiulfill its mission. This same party7 boasts of its progressive tendencies- pc its utilitarian principles, and its gor- an ernmentai reforms. These are high nm, claims; and current history will show Ti them to be bare faced and impudent in assumptions. In the light of passing ap events, we pronounce thIr party to be ni full of cnrruption, venality, and ell fu the political rottrnne.s, that could be St scraped up...
