r-54 Bismarck, D. T.f Oct. 22," Th« Prapotwl New Tgrrllr/. Senator Hamlin has mi ruduced a bill in the senate for the division of Dakota Territory, and the construction of a new territory from the northern part thereof to be called the Territory of Huron. A similar bill has passed either the house of representatives or the senate during each session of congress for the past six years, but, the measure has failed in the end for political or other rea sons. The time has now come, however, when we may reasonably hope for jus tice in the disposition of the matter. Northern ana Southern Dakota have no interests or sympathies in common. There is no direct and reliable commu nication between the two sections. They are separated by a country regarded un fit for settlement and only fit for a per manent Indian reservation, the purpose for which it is now devoted, and for which it will be used for many years t* come. The Territory of Dakota contains about one hundred and fifty thousand sq...

Biamarnk, D. T.f Oct. 24, 1877* AOrdiaaM* O«pot at Binurek. We have nofirad for twojears, at least, that the receipts and shipments of army supplies at Bismarck have been very large and at the same time continually on the increase. Inquiry of the railroad men and steamboat agents folly and in disputably confirms our observation. Conversation with prominent military of ficers, who have personal knowledge of the amount of stores handled here, sus tains us. The location ot Bismarck and its relations with the Department of Da kota are arguments ensugh, when drawn put and understood, in support of the claim we are about to ro?ke. This de partment is the largest in the United §|#tes and comprises nearly one-third of thf wbole army, infantry and cavalry, ft is notoriously the seat of all the In dian troubles that make a standing army necessarr. is manifestly the most im portant military tf the coun try and will be until the territory WC8t and northwest is settled up. BJamarck, D. T.f Oct. 26, 1877. The an«ounceme»t in Til* BQ8TB that the extension of the N. F. R. west from Bis*arck,is already in jr® gtfsf, will be received with pleasure. It is accepted in go«d faith aad be lieved to be the beginning of what will, itf another jear, be a division west to the Yellowstone, 205 brel! miles distant. The highest authority in the management of the railway is given the TRIBUNE that tliis extension of the road to the Yellow stone is a fore-gone conclusion under any probable circumstances. It isn't contin gent upon Congressional action. It is a business as well as a military necessity to put it through to theYellowstone country. Stye Bismarck SritiiHt*. Bismarck, D. T., Oct. 29, 1877* The complaint against the N. P. R. R. for opening up big farms in Dakota in stead of small ones is very superficial. In the first place there is an empire be tween here and Fargo that has not been touched or even looked at. Then what harm or monopoly is there in a ten thous and acre tarm like Dalrym pie's. It is only a fly speck on the bosom «t this great prairie. It would take thousa^s of such farms to crowd the railroad land alone. Besides every other section is government land, open to four farms of 160 acres each. With such an unoc cupied acreage as we have in Dakota it is folly to argue against the policy of large farms at present. It is proving to be the only known policy that would have com manded the attention of the country and attracted investors as far west as .Bis marck. These larger wheat fields with their unprecedented v:e!d have done more than any other agency ot the sea son to direct immigration to Easte...
