We give up a considerable por tion of our space to-day to Colonel Smith's forcible and earnest effort to bring tho California Senate to a just attitude on the railway ques tion. A certain portion of our Los Angeles community—or at least a portion of the press of this city have indulged in what we cannot but believe is Intentional misrepre sentation of Col. No sensible Angelefio can expect the slender delegation from this county—a delegation which i* only half that to which our numbers i entitle us—to mould the legislation of a State which haa always been contemptuously disregardful of its southern portion. ...

An Unfair And Saarling Spirit We are occasionally called upon to note the extreme partizan un fairness of some people who ought to have better sense. Col. George 11. Smith and the Messrs.
