There was little danger 1 of seeing one of any sort, for it is years since the last one was taken In the Manatee river, except one solitary specimen that was consid ered rare enough to be taken to the Semi*Troyical exhibition at t Jacksonville. I saw it there, and now my idea of the sea-cow is clearer. It does not roeam about thecountry bellowing and swal- h ...

Iec euarbi a n. PUBLISIIED EVERY FRIDAY. HOMER, - LOUISIANA Dccelnler 20, 1889. DIED, December 1, 1889, at the resi dence of her father near Gordon, La., Miss Sallie Gibson, aged 27 years, one month and twelve days. Several days before her death she expressed her deep conviction, that she could not get well. Her suffering was very severe, but she endured all with quiet resigna tion. Besides, a father, five bro there and one sister, she has left a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. But he who "doeth all things well," knoweth best, While the trial is sad and hald to bear, we should all bow to the divine decree ot Heaven and hum. bly say, "'Thy will be done." To the bereaved we would say, "weep not for the dear one is gone beyond the clouds and mists and dust of time, and she dwells forever safe from the cares and trials of this world, where you can again re join her when you ...
