Koehl et als vs. Schoen hausen, 47 annual reports, page 1316 No one can read the testimony in that Schoenhausen case without a shudder and a spirit of thankfulness that the vice conditions here are so infinitely improved now over what they were then. The most singular defense was resorted to by Schoenhausen in the injunction suit, to-wit: That as con cert halls, saloons and gambling houses generally existed in that sec tion, there was no way of making the egg more rotten than it already was and he should therefore be allowed to keep his place open.
