Front Your City Council REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF MAY CITY COUNCIL MEETING TIME CHANGE NEW TIMES AND DATES 2ND. & 4TH. MONDAYS OF EACH MONTH 7:30 P.M. The May 10th regular meeting of the Sachse City Council was called to order by Mayor Mary Jo Killingsworth. All members of the council were present. All bills were approv- ed for payment with the exception of one for sewer tie-on work. Further inquiry was requested when the amount seemed excessive. Mr. Max Scheid, speak- ing for the developers of Pleasant Valley Ranch Estates, requested a plat abandonment and deannex- ation from the city for phase 4 of Pleasant Valley Ranch Estates. The coun- cil, by a unanimous vote, agreed to the plat abandon- ment, but not the deannex- ation of the approximate 105 acres. TIE SRCRSE SEDTIIIEl VOLUMN 1 NUMBER 7 JULY 1976 FREE SACHSE CHRISTIAN CHURCH'S ACTIVITIES CENTER OPENS A "Crazy Olympics" was held to kick off the opening of the new Activity Center at the Sachse Chri- stian Church. Four teams of 8 adults from the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class competed in crazy events such as tricycle races, little red wagon races, skate board races and an obstacle course. The winning team was treated to a bar-b-que and swim party by the loosing teams at the home of Charles and Ann Day. Better than $300 was raised that evening toward the purchase of kitchen equipment. CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING JUNE 28 The Sachse City Council met in regular session June 28,Mayor Killingsworth called the meeting to order with all council members present. First item on the agenda was a request by Shelia Jones, representing Gen- eral Telephone, for an 8 1/4% rate increase. Council- woman Mozelle Hooker commented, they should wait until Sept. l,when the Public Utilities Comm- ission becomes functional. Councilman Quain called to mind how our service and rates were before we be- came tied to Garland with a tier one rating and sug- gested we grant the increase now. The motion was made to deny the rate increase until Sept. 1. Councximembers Hooker, Andrews and Shatt- les voted for the motion, Councilman Quain against and Councilman Roan abs - tained.
