The Unitt'J brethren and the Con gregationaiista (says the London ''Daily Net"*") appear to have been the lirst denominations to open the door of- tin Ministry to women. As far back, as 1851 the Rev. Lydiu Sexton was fully ordained as a minister, and continued hjr work till 1890. The Rev, Antoinette Brown lilacktyell graduated from a theological wbool in 1850. 'She was not, however, admitted into •b« ministry of th» Congregational Church till 1853. The Congrega tionalist duii'Mnination has, at the present time, over SO ordained women piuichers. The Baptists liri vo not so many women preachers, but in the j&aptut churches at Chicago, Pittjburg, Kansas, Ne braska and 2|ipijigan there are woman nnnis^^* The Presbyte-i i'ian Church strictly prohibits worn rn for ordination.
