Serious Accident at tlie Nowra Courthouse A DILAPIDATED BUILDING. Whilst a police case was being held at the Nowra Courthouse, one of the rotten boards in the flooring suddenly gavo way, and caused severe injury to Mr. Blnck inore, who was defending a prisoner. Mr. Blackmore's right foot was considerably bruised by tho ' cocked ' board, and ho had two of his ribs broken by going down the hole. Mr. Whit tell was standing near Mr. Black more, having ono foot on the board when it gave way, and although he is pretty active on his feet, he could not get clear and he, too, foil, crossing Mr Blackmore, and it is supposed his weight did not tend to improve tho posi tion of his learned friend. The Sergeant fur a moment though someone had fired a bombshell into the Court, and Constable Draper appeared to bo awfully scared. Sporting. A quoit match and handicap footrace, promoted by Mr. H. C. Parnell, will take place at Tomerong on Saturday next, for good prizes. Entries for 'both events will be taken on the ground. The second annual prize meeting of the Nowra Reserve- Rifle Company will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday next, 13th and 14th inst., on the Nowra range, under the management of tho club com mittee. Shooting will commence each day at 8. JO a.m., and refreshments and ammunition will be prorided on the ground. Posy Racinc— Tho Greenwell Point Sports Committee intend having a day's pony racing on St. Patrick's Day (17th March), not the 26th January as stated in last issue. The Boolong Turf Club had their settling on Wednesday evening last at Mr. M, Maroney'a residence. The meet ing was a great success. Several toasts were drunk in a most enthusiastic manner, and the company broke up about midnight, all satisfied with the termination of their annual turf meeting.

Emery, assisted by the resi dents, united in giving a' school treat to the pupils of the public schools at New Bristol and North Huskisson (Jorvis Bay). Notwithstanding the excessive heat of tho previous week and the numerous counter attractions of the surrounding distriot to tho picturesque rendezvous of Jervis Bay, the day passed off most successfully to both young and, old. Ere noon arrived vehicles from Tomerong, Nowra, ' -£c, wended thoir way to the school grounds, until not Ices than 100 persons had as sembled. The site could not bo, excelled, owing to suitableness of shed and awning, lovely grounds, and plenty of cool water. SHOALHAVEN U. T. C. RACES, Wednesday, Januahy14. This meeting promises to bo a success. The entries have filled well, there being 27 in the three handicaps— Opening, S. U. T. Club, and New Year's Gift ; and tho sale of race privileges along with the entry fees has covered the total amount required for the prizes, so the club can anticipate a good sub stantial sum to the credit of the small meeting, which, added to the present balance in the Bank will make something like £100. On Wednesday last a match was. ar- ranged in Sydney between M'Lean and Stanbury, to take place about the middle of April next on the Parramatta for the championship of the world and a stake of £200 a-side. Stanbury is at present in this district on a holiday, but will proceed next week to tho Hawkesbury to com menco training. Mr, Joseph Brans, proprietor of the Brighton Hotel, Kiama, intends leaving fqr Europe shortly. His hotel is for sale. Mr. J. Picnic at Roseby Park. [By Le Voyageuu.] All event which speuks very highly for the aocial feeling of tho people of Pyrce, in the form of what might bu termed a neighbour's picnic took place nt Rosuby Park on Tuesday lust, January 6th. At about 10 a.m. a company consisting of most of the inhabitnnts of Pyree, and a number of visitors from Sydney, in all about 120. assembled at the new wharf. Greenwell Point, the arranged place of meeting. A number, on the 'plea 'of ' timidity,' preferred to be ferried across tho channel, and to bo allowed walk tho remainder of the way, rather than being convoyed in boats to the Pilot Station. Morschcl were in Nowra yesterday after noon on business connected with the Boolong Turf Club, Mr. Morchol'* horse pulled away from where it was tethered in front of one of tho business places and etrayed-away in thedirectionof Thompsons Hotel. A tramp came along, and think ing the horse rather a good looking and available hack he concluded he would have a ride, so he at once mounted, fixed him self in a determined attitude, placed his hat carelessly on the back of his head, and made a start.
