EXHIBITION STOCK. [Newspaper Article] — The Murrurundi Times and Liverpool Plains Gazette — 15 August 1871

EXHIBITION STOCK. We had yesterday the pleasure of inspect- ing, at Edinglassie, a portion of the stock in- tended by the Messrs. White for exhibition at the forthcoming shows at Singleton and Sydney. At the gate, ready for a start to the railway station were collected a herd of 16 Hereford, Durham, and Devon bullocks for Sydney only — the most— conspicuous in the lot was the grand old roan which has before now wrested the championship from all com- petitors an the best Durham, he was first ex- hibited as a steer when three years old and took the prize, and since then he has been . exhibited with unvarying success. He is by a bull of Lee's, out of one of Messrs. White's imported cows, and like the rest owes his con- dition to the Martindale paddocks. ~ He is entered for the prize to be given to the best Durham oz, and anything that comes between him and the blue ribbon of the show must be something fine indeed With a splendid head, well set in shoulders, guaranteeing im- mense weigh...

Musclebrook. [Newspaper Article] — The Murrurundi Times and Liverpool Plains Gazette — 15 August 1871

Muselebrook, (From the Musc'ebrook edition.) Mr. Anthony Trollops. — This well known author has arrived in Melbourne by the Great -Britain, and intends to spend a day tor two in Queensland, and the remainder of the week in New South Wales, in order to collect the necessary statistics and general information for his forthcoming work on the Australian colonies. Although he will thus have ample time to become personally, ac- quainted with our various resources and in- dustries, he will probably be unable to appear in public to deliver the lectures from which so much enjoyment was anticipated. Much attention has been shewn him by the resi-   dents of Melbourne, and under the guidance of two or three gentlemen, eminent in the colonial literary world, he has already visited the Hospital, the Benevolent Asylum, and the spacious Burying-ground, and expressed himself much surprised aud pleased with the variety and excellence of the entertainments in the city. At the request of s...

Miscellaneous. [Newspaper Article] — The Murrurundi Times and Liverpool Plains Gazette — 15 August 1871

Miscellaneous. AN EXTRAORDIANRY EXHIBITION. — There is something almost portentous in the announcement of giants and a two-headed nightingale exhibiting at Willis's Rooms, but there is a show of that nature there of so wonderful a character as to justify its in- trusion into so unlooked for a quarter. The   ' two-headed nightingale ' turns out to be a negro girl — Millie Christine — or brace of girls, as the reader likes, born about nine- teen years ago in a slave cabin on the estate of a Mr. Joseph P. Smith, in Columbus county. North Carolina. This anomalous being is as to her bust two, but as to her torso one ; and she has also four legs She is thus a far more remarkable person than the Siamese twins. They were tw0 perfect individuals united by a mere fleshy band; but in her case there is an absolute console- dation of the two bodies from below the waist She is of low stature, but not ill looking, and she has been very carefully educated She sings duets very fairly, a...
