Austin, for the Farmers' Stakes on Satur- day next at 6.p.m. The draw will take place at 8 o'clock the same evening. The stake is a 16-dog one, the first 16 received. Owners should send in their nominations early.   The smoke night given by Mrs Balfour, proprietress of the Camp Hotel, Werribee, on the 24th ult, was largely patronised, and an enjoyable evening: spent by those present. Mr Duncan Liddle, in the chair, kept matters moving merrily. The gathering broke up about midnight, all satisfied with the entertainment provided for them by the Hostess of the above mentioned hotel. Owing to the heavy rain which fell on Friday last in the Bacchus Marsh district, Mr. Robertson was unable to reach Werribee to address a meeting on Saturday, in conjunction with the Hon. J. E. DANISH BUTTER EXPORTS. The exports of Danish butter in 1909 amounted' to rather more than 178,000,0001b. (Danilsh), of which about 4.500,000ib. were tinned. The exportd during the three preceding years were respectively 178,000,0001b., 171,000.000 lb. and 159,000," O1O. In addition, milk and cream are exported on an increasing scale. The price of butter' averaged a few ore less per lb. thaor In 1908, the average of which yeas' (102.5 ore per lb.) was the highest oi any year since 1880. and the price for' 1O90 will probably be exceeded bY the average for 1908 and 1909. The bulk of the .exported butter went to Great Britain, although the exports to -that country were somewhat smaller than during 1908: On tlie other hand. tho exports to Germany', showed an it' crease--butter in casks 6,500,0001b., against barely 4,000,0001b.
