Edward Clarke, a-bullock driver, was charged \ritli embezzeling £12, tlie property of his employer, which he received for carriage. Adam Ballantine, sworn, deposed that he arrested the prisoner by virtue of a warrant. Charles Robertson, sworn, deposed that the prit ner was employed by him as a bullork-drivcr, he SL-nt 1il.u ut to Monaro with a loai to Bibcnbulic, and Mr. Edwards paid him twelve pounds, the amount of the ! carriage, which Clarke ought to have handed to him; instead of which ha had spent it, a:id did not hear any thing of him for a month, when he took out a warrant. DISTRICT NEWS. PANBULA. CtURT OF PETTY SESSIONS Monday, Majlcii 20th. (Before G. P. Keon, Eeq., P.M., J. Lloyd, aud J. H. Bennett, Esqrs., J.P.'s.) O'Niel v. Wilson, Unlawful possession of property, suspected to liave been stolen. The defendant had been servant to plaintiff and was given in charge by him. Plaintiff stated to the bench that he had altered liia mind, and believed in his heart, now, that his wife had put the things into the gii'ls' bundle and he felt bound <o clear her character. Case dismissed. Queen v. Striteli. Stealing a bill of exchange for £12 5s. 8d., out of a. letter. The prisoner, it* appears! was servant to Mr. Fitz patricli, who sent liiin to the post office for letters, the letter in question he received and opened, taking the bill and getting it cashed, applyiny the money to his own use; a portion of the money was recovered. Committed for trial. Moran v. Ballantine. Vagrancy, Case dismissed.

LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THIS BEGA PAR>ONA«K. On Wednesday last March 22nd great numbers of peoples assembled from all quarters at St. John's Church. At noon they formed a into procession, headed by the amatuer philharmonic band, and pro ceeded to the Globe, where everything was in prepara tion for the laying of the foundation stone; the sheers were crected and the stone in slings ready to be placed. The assemblage, on arriving at the site of the intended building, formed a circlc round the sheers, when the liev. J. L. Knight opened the ceremony by a hymn and prayer.. No appearance. Dis missed. Grates v. Sebastian and Francis Shuback. This was a claim for the value of a bullock sold and delivered. Adjourned till nest court for witnesses. Pearce v. Ward. The plaintiff in this case claim's £1 10s, value of a pair of pantaloons. It appears that some 6liort time ago plaintiff was ar rested by defendant, (who is a constaUle) and constable Alien for being drunk and disorderly and in his struggle with the constables, the aforesaid pants were destroyed. On the following morning the priso ner was brought up before the magistrates, who fined him 20s. The constables made a claim for damages done to their trousers, winch were produced before-the magistrates. The prisoner himself being drunk had no knowledge of the matter.
