Letters to Soldiers. NEW FORM OF ADDRESS. [Newspaper Article] — Cobden Times — 21 August 1918

Letters to Soldiers. NEW FORM OF ADDRESS. I Ifc is desired by the military authorities abroad that the .word " Australia'- be included in everything addressed to any of the units, hence the necessity for including the words '• Australian Imperial Force," instead of'A.I.F." Confusiou is being 'caused by the Australian correspondents using the letters "A.F.A." instead of writing the words " Australian Field ! Artillery" in full in the addresses on letters and parcels intended for members of that unit. The " Army Field Artillery,'' a British unit, uses the same initials. Instructions have been issued that correspondence is to be adsressed to " Australian'' Field Artillery. In the case of infantry the distinguishing letter of the Company to which the soldier is attached should be shown thus :— No. 123-1, Private Thomas Atkins, "B"Company, 21st Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, Abroad. In Light Horse regiments the squadron should be indicated in the =;:iue way, as follow? :—...
