Prahran Total Abstinence Society. The sixth anniversary entertain* ment of the above society was held in the Prahran Town Hall on Tues day evening, when there was a very large attendance. The president, Mr * R. McIntosh, presided. The pro gramme, which had been arranged by Mr J. J. Barlow, the energetic secretary, proved very interesting, and was highly appreciated. Punt Road Methodist Sunday School. [Newspaper Article] — Malvern and Caulfield Standard — 22 September 1906

Pant Road Methodist Sunday School. The 53rd anniversary services of the above Sunday school were com menced on Sunday. The church was tastefully decorated by the senior scholars for the occasion, and the whole of the scholars were accommo dated on a special platform in the front of the church. The pretty hymns which the scholars had learned were sung, and {»roved 'very enjoyable. Mr Lancaster wielded the baton, and Misses Ellis and Doyle presided at the piano and organ respectively. Complaints had recently been made of the light ing in the church, but there were none on Sunday, as the trustees had had two 700 candle power gas lamps fitted in position, with a very satis factory result. List Thursday evening thirty one membtrs of the Malvern Harriers, instead of facing the starter, assembled at Rubiera's Cafe, to ceebrate the close of the cross country season by a dinner and smoke social. Mr G. G. Arcus, the president, occupied the chair. After the toast of The King had been honored, Mr B. f. Parkin-; son proposed the toast of the team that had run in the ten-mile race on the 15th. He congratulated the team on winning the B section of the race, and on finishing with twelve men strong, being the only team to do so. He had great hopes for the future of I the Malvern Harriers. Perseverance Tent, I.O.R. | FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. Tbe usual fortnightly meeting pf the above lodge was held on Tues? day, when a fair number of the mem bers were present. Bro. H. J. Gunner, D.C.R., was in attendance, and con ducted the meeting. The usual quarterly return, which was presented to the meeting, showed that the Tent is in a very satisfactory condition, as may be gathered from the fact that : the membership roll now totals 435, comprising 326 bene fit and 109 honorary members, and also that the Teat has to its' credit for Sick and Funeral Fund upwards of £6,000.
