Aa Important Journalistic Change [Newspaper Article] — Malvern Standard — 3 November 1906

Aa Important Journalistic Change --« The November issue of " Fitchett's New Idea " is in one respect the most important that has been sent out, for it notifies a complete revolution in the magazine. In December " The New Idea " will be increased in size, im proved in quality of paper and character of reading matter, and en larged to include an up-to-date fashion department. In addition, three free paper patterns will be given away with every issue. To cover the cost of these alterations, the price of " The New Idea " is to be advanced one penny, so that it will sell, in future, at fourpence on the stalls, and the annual subscription prie; will be four shillings, including the free patterns in. both cases. Meantime, the literary features of the current number are as strong and fresh as ever. Prac tically the whole of the fiction is written by Australians, Mrs L. A. CR DOBSON EXPLAINS. To THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — Malvern Standard — 3 November 1906

I ; Cß DOBSON EXPLAINS. To THK EDITOR. ' Sir,.-1 would ask you as a favor to graut me space to contradict a rumour which is current ia Prahran, namely, that I shirked voting on the question of allowing Mr Tom Mann to break our bye-law. The facts are, that having arranged for the report of the loan committee to be voted on before the orr i o arv business was called on, and having voted on that important item, and haying. ascer tained that there was unanimity amongst the Councillors as to refusing the consent, I thought 1 was at liberty to attend a reception at Parliament House, especially as 1 have never missed a meeting since elected to the Council. However, I state now, as I shall publicly state in open Council on the first opportunity, I would have voted against granting the consent, for my symptthies are with those who uphold Jaw and order, aid not with those misguided straogers who, often ' inebriated with the exuberance of their own verbosity," block our thoroughfares and imped...

The Prahran council meets on Tuesday evening next. HOLLOWAY'^ PILLS. The Uour of Danger. Disease commonly comes on with slight symptoms, which, when neglected, increase in extent and gradually grow dangerous-a condition which betrays the grossest remissness when these Pills, taken in accordance with their accompanying directions, would not only have checked, but conquered the incipient disorder. Patients daily forward details of the most remarkable and instructive cases iu which timely attention to Holloway's advice bas undoubtedly saved them from severe illness. These pills act primarily on the digestive organs, which they stimulate when slow acd imperfect.; and; secondly, upon the blood, which *B thoroughly purified by them, whence is derived £he general tone they impart, and their power of subjugating hypo chondriaoism, dyspepsia, and nervous complaints.
