To Onr Correspondents . [Newspaper Article] — Western Rural — 7 March 1868

To Onr Correspondents . Our thanks are due to a large number of correspondents forthe interesting and valuable communications with which tbey have favored ua , which will be published as rapidly as we can find room for tbem . We hope no one will feel that tbeir communications are not wanted or appreciated , if they do not appear as soon as was expected . We are now endeavoring to give , at least , brief reports of the proceedings of the interesting conventions that have recently been held in the West . * These have been so nnmerous that , although we have given space to the reports usually filled with editorial matter or communications , some reports have been crowded out week after week , and we are compelled to condense them as much as possible . We still ask our readers everywhere , to send us short articles suggested by their experience , observation , or reading , promising to make good use of them .

"Patrons of HnaktBidiy . " [Newspaper Article] — Western Rural — 7 March 1868

Patrons of HnaktBidiy . We have not hitherto found space to notice the foct that an Order , known as the Patrons of Husbandry , has been formed ia this country . The object of this Order is the elevation of Agriculture as a calling . Its founders believe all existing popular modes of creating an interest in agricultural and kindred pursuits have foiled ln accomplishing what was desired , and , contrasting the permanence of such an organization as the Masonic Order with the slight influence and spasmodic action of existing societies connected with , agriculture , they conclude that secrecy is the element which gives permanence , and have made the new Order a * secret one , with four degrees , representing , the four seasons :. The headquarters of the Order are at . Washington , and among the officers are some well-known ; names . O . H . KELLY ,. Washington , D .
