THE LION OF THE WEST . Last winter Mr . Paulding of New-York , wrote a comedy bearing this title , which obtained the prize offered by Mr . Hackett , manager of one of the city theatres . The comedy has recently been revised , with the view of giving it , what is technically termed , stage effect . New characters are introduced , and the theatre-going folks consider the affair as much improved . The principal character of the piece is Ned Wildfire ; who . we are told in his own vernacular , is a screamer .
