ThS-V / otcester ( Mass . ) Spy tells this story : A short time since there came on one oi the trains from the . west a slightly built youth , who , after leaving the cars , asked permission of one of tho baggage-masters at the depot to seat himself and rest a short time in tho baggage room . The request was granted , and the one in charge of the room asked of the other how far he had travelled . The newly arrived said he had come a long distance , from Janes ville . Wis ., without stopping—and that he had come to Massachusetts for the sole purpose of hunting up his lather s relatives . ARRIYAL OF CHINESE . Importation ot a Herd ot Women—Seme * at the Wharf-A Revolting Practice . [ From the San Francisco Bulletin , Nov . 23 . ] . At 8 o clock a . m . yesterday the steamer from China and Japan came up the harbor . As soon as she came in sight there was a general excitement and stampede in the Chinese quarters . Men and women piled into hacks , express wagons , or cars , and all went hurrying to the landing place , corner of First and Brannan streets . Many special and regular policemen and officers of the Society for the Protection of Chinese were with them , and before the steamer lad reached her moorings a crowd of about 200 people , white and Asiatics , had assembled in front ot the gates .
