50 CENTS A YEAR IN ADVANCE IS IT It IT e I VOL I Lawrenceburg Ky Thursday January 8 1903 NO 9 I More Scared Than Hurt Owing to the fact that there has been quite a number of cases of smallpox reported in Mercer county very near our I line our town and county peo ple have felt quite a little un easiness about the spreading of the dread disease and the report has frequently been started during the past week that there was a number of cases in our own county This we are glad to say is false Last week David Searcy who lives a few miles from town on the Camden road was taken sick and the attending physi cian thought that some symp toms of the disease existed and at once every precaution was taken to prevent its spread in case it developed in to smallpox The house was I at once quarantined and Mr James Hawkins was sent there as a nurse to care for Mr I Searcy As said this has not yet been pronounced small pox and there is not today a case of it in the county and no alarm whatever need be ...
