T uTTENDEN PRES. m, Ky., Aug. iyiy. F. and W. P. HOGARD, Editors and Publishers. filtered a second-clung mattiT Feb- fury, yth, 178, at the poatuhVe at Clarion, Kentucky, under the Act of fCongress of March 3rd, 1X77. SUBSCRIPTION RATKS $1.50 per year cash in advance. ECONOMY OF WATERWORKS. Forgetting all about all other phases of this question, which we shall take up later, a system of waterworks would pay for itself in a very short time, more than likely before a bond issue would become due. More than likely the re sult of such "a meeting would be an immediate start on some plan to get the water. We believe that it is perfectly safe to make the assertion that the saving of the business insurance; alone would pay for this necessity and all that was gained in a lowe...

Entered m econd-clM matter Feb ruary 9th, 1878, at the poatoffice at Marion, Kentucky, under the Act of Congress of March :ird, 1877. SUBSCRIPTION KATES $1.50 per year cash in advance. OUR COUNTRY SCHOOLS ijuite a number of the country schools in Crittenden and other counties in Kentucky have been in session for a month now-the major portion of them with a mere handful of students in at tendance. This seems to be a deplorable waste of teaching energy, especially when this energy is so hard to get, there by making it an almost precious commodity. There is nothing in Kentucky as important as the education of her youth. There is no one sin gle thing that has as much to do with their education as the pub lic schools, commonly called the "Country Schools" and it is ut terly impossible for them to "produce" at their highest e...
