The particulars, as we heard them are as follows : A train of ears was going down at the time the "Western Express train was coming up, when two men attempted to cross the road. They succeeded in crossing before the descending train,but one of j them was caught by the Locomotive drawing the Express, and thrown under the cars which pas- sed over him. His skull was broken, so that his brains protruded, and his body otherwise crush ed, lie still breathed when the train stopped, but died in a few minutes after. A.votiier. During winter the farmer Las many unoccu pied hourswhich are not filled by the duties of the farm, and by the ceaseless application and hard labor which is required in the summer. It is a question of some importance how these hours may be employed with the greatest and most lasting benefit to tho larmcr. There is an old adage which says, " time is money in which there is much truth ; the judicioms importance of time will create and secure money. But time which is spent in groceries, grogshops, and simi lar haunts of evil, is an investment which will yield no such gratifying results. Far from it.
